When Alan Hatherly joined Cannondale Factory Racing (CFR) back in 2021 we always knew he was destined for big things… and he proved us right!

Aboard his trusty Cannondale Scalpel, ‘Al Boi’ has grown from UCI XCO World Cup podium challenger into a full-blown UCI World Champion and Olympic Medalist. All thanks to his total commitment to the sport, the tireless support from his family, and the complete backing of his CFR team.

During his time racing mountain bikes, Alan always made no secret of the fact he dreamed of one day competing in the Tour de France. And Cannondale made no secret of the fact we’d release him from contract to fulfill that dream should the opportunity ever arise.

Well that day has finally come. The South African’s indomitable 2024 mountain bike season and World Championship stripes have earned him a shot at the UCI World Tour.

“Thank you for all the support in getting me here” says Alan. “Cannondale Factory Racing has enabled me to be myself, to get on and do the job of winning, and helped me learn and grow into the athlete I am today.”

We’re proud of everything Alan’s achieved for both himself and everyone at Cannondale. We’ll all be cheering him on from the roadside (and sofa) as he embarks on the next challenge of his career at the biggest races in the World. Allez Alain!
